COVID 19 UPDATE 18TH MAY 2020
Phew! What a week!
Since the Government restriction changes that were announced last week which now allows us as agents to resume with viewings and valuations, we have seen an unprecedented amount of enquiries coming in to our offices. Understandably, there will be a lot of clients that will want to view properties and a lot of owners wanting to sell their properties, yet whilst the new activity in the market is reassuring, we must stress that it is not “business as normal”- in fact it is quite the opposite.
Over the last couple of days I have seen several agents “rush” back to work and promote how successful they have been by agreeing sales and how they have a full day of appointments, which is all very well and good, but at Maitlands, we are committed to ensuring that all of our appointments are carried out in the safest way possible and we are following all of the governments guidelines. We are therefore offering virtual viewings on our properties as a first option to clients, so they have the opportunity to view the property from the comfort of their home and continue to reduce the risk of spreading this awful virus. If a client is still keen to see the property and is indicating that they would like to make an offer, then we are allowing a physical viewing of the property, whilst we observe the social distancing guidelines and wear the correct PPE.
For our clients that wish to place their property on the market, we are offering them a virtual valuation (which is just as good as a physical valuation, but eliminates the potential spread of the virus and saves you having to invite three “strangers” into your home) as a first option. If this is not possible, then we will arrange to visit your home to carry out a physical inspection, again whilst observing the social distancing guidelines and wearing the correct PPE.
If you decide to market you home we will arrange a convenient time, where we can safely take photographs, draw floorplans and prepare your home for sale. We are able to send all paperwork electronically, therefore making this process as “safe” for you as possible.
Our offices remain “OPEN” but with a closed door policy whilst me make the necessary preparations to ensure that they are safe for our visiting clients. We are installing Perspex shields to our client desks and reducing the levels of staff within these offices to protect our employees and you, as clients. Our doors will open fully when I am as certain as I can be, that we have taken all of the necessary precautions that meet with the Government guidelines to allow members of the public into our show rooms again.
It’s fair to say the property industry has always been a very competitive one and I fully understand those agents that will need to start building their sales pipelines again, as do we, but we will have to adapt to the new way of agency, not the old, if we are going to do this properly.
Stay safe everyone.
