Ivybridge Christmas Festival – Santa Comes to Town
Ivybridge Christmas Festival – Santa comes to Town
Friday 28th and Saturday 29th November 2014
Ivybridge Christmas Festival commences on the evening of Friday 28th November with many of the shops around the town taking part in a late night opening event. The Festival features exciting attractions for all ages including free face painting and street entertainment. Enjoy the festive atmosphere, while picking up some Christmas gifts from the advent markets and Christmas stalls, with plenty of refreshments and music on offer.
Don’t miss the special parade featuring our returning guests from the South Devon carnival circuit, Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue fire engine and cadets, Heroes ‘n’ Villains in their amazing movie costumes, followed by our star attraction – Santa accompanied by his crew of elves arriving on Trigger the little express train. There will also be exciting opportunities to bump into our very jolly Santa along with his important little helpers at different locations as he goes on tour around the town. Experience the new scintillating icicle lights in Fore Street being switched on, adding a truly magical touch to a wonderful community evening full of festive spirit.
Santa will return to Ivybridge the following day, Saturday 29th November when the Festival resumes from 10am running into the afternoon. An exciting and enchanting atmosphere is in store where families can visit Santa and his elves in his magical grotto in the atrium on the 1st floor of The Watermark, and take part in other activities organised by the Guides. The grotto is free to visit but donations will be welcomed for the Blood Bikes charity, which consists of a team of volunteer Emergency Vehicle drivers dedicated to providing out of hours service supporting the NHS in delivering essential Blood, Samples, Medication and Donor Breast Milk to hospitals throughout Devon.
Join Santa as he stays as guest of honour at The Watermark for lunch, followed by a festive film Muppets Christmas Carol for all the family. For more details or to book ask at The Watermark Information Centre or call 01752 892220.
On the Saturday shoppers can delight in the vibrant advent markets around the town, and enjoy other festivities taking place at The Watermark; The Flower Club will be holding a wreath making workshop from 9.30am until 12 noon for all those who fancy trying their hand at making some festive greenery; the price of £20 includes refreshments and materials, and bookings should be made by 15 November to Janet Weston on 01752 894643. For motor enthusiasts there will be a display of vintage cars outside The Watermark courtesy of Devon Vintage Car Club.
Santa’s grotto is open every following Saturday leading up to Christmas in The Watermark from 10am to 12 noon. So join Santa and his elves and take part in the festive activities, with plenty of novelty edible stocking filler gifts to buy.
